Marketplace competition in health care is seriously lacking. A bidding platform , predicated on bundled pricing and quality metrics is a powerful tool to reduce healthcare costs for corporations with self-insured health plans. In the case of surgical services, the platform forces surgeons and other providers, freestanding ambulatory surgery centers, hospital- owned surgery centers (HOPD), hospitals and hospital systems to compete to render care. Patients have more choices, obtain more transparent quality data that is not currently available today and are free to choose their surgeon.
During the presentation , we will present a plan of action to create a competitive environment locally, regionally and nationally. The presentation will outline how to implement such a program and representatives from two major employers will talk about their experience using a bidding platform.
For the first time, corporations have an opportunity to reign in healthcare costs and compete more fairly in the global marketplace. We will present details on how to set up a bidding platform to foster market competition.
