Dr. Charles A. Czeisler, PhD, MD, FRCP serves as Professor of Sleep Medicine and Director, Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Czeisler serves as Chief, Division of Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Co-Director, Division of Sleep Medicine, Harvard Medical School and an Affiliate Faculty Member in both the Program in Neuroscience at Harvard Medical School and the Health Science and Technology Program at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Czeisler has 30 years of experience in the field of basic and applied research on the physiology of the human sleep cycle. He has been a Member of Scientific Advisory Board at Axon Sleep Research Laboratories, Inc. since September 2008. He serves as a Member of Medical and Scientific Advisory Board at Hypnion, Inc. Dr. Czeisler has been Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Somnus Therapeutics, Inc. since November 2008. He served as Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of Zeo, Inc. since September 2008. He is an internationally renowned for his research in the areas of human sleep and circadian physiology. He published over 225 original reports in peer-reviewed journals and review articles, as well as five books/monographs. He is a Committee Member on a number of government and national advisory panels. Dr. Czeisler is a Fellow of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians. He is a Certified Sleep Specialist of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology magna cum laude in 1974. Dr. Czeisler received his Ph.D. in Neuro- and Bio-behavioral Sciences in 1978 and his M.D. in 1981 from Stanford University.
