American Staffing Association
Ed Lenz is senior counsel of the American Staffing Association, the voice of the U.S. staffing industry. ASA member companies provide workforce solutions, including temporary and contract staffing, recruiting and permanent placement, outplacement and outsourcing, training, and human resource consulting. Staffing firms employ over 14 million people in the U.S. each year.
Lenz joined ASA in 1989 as its first general counsel and, as senior vice president for legal and public affairs, was the staffing industry’s chief legal and legislative advocate. A leading authority on the legal and public policy aspects of staffing, he has written hundreds of articles and papers and spoken to business groups throughout the country on the unique regulatory issues affecting the industry. Since passage of the Affordable Care Act, he has led the industry’s advocacy efforts on ACA issues before Congress and the Administration. In addition to his leadership role in ASA, Lenz serves as senior advisor on Employment, Labor & Benefits to the law firm of Mintz Levin, PC.
Before joining ASA, Lenz was vice president and assistant general counsel of Kelly Services, a Fortune 500 international workforce solutions company. Earlier in his career, he served in government and private law practice in Washington, D.C. Lenz graduated with honors in political science from Bucknell University and holds law degrees from Boston College and New York University. In 2001, he was named a fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
