Dr. Elizabeth Raitz Cowboy, MD, CHIE, FCCP is a medical director responsible for utilization management in the Virginia market, including Joint Ventures and ACOs. She designed the Aetna Hepatitis C program. She is member of the Aetna Clinical Policy Committee, liaison to the Society of Critical Care Medicine and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Dr. Cowboy completed her under-graduate degrees in Biology and German at Bowling Green State University, Ohio and the University of Saltsburg, Austria. She graduated from medical school and residency at Medical College of Ohio, University of Toledo with AOA honors. She completed fellowships in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City. Prior to joining Aetna, she was a bedside and virtual critical care physician for 21 years. Dr. Cowboy is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. She has published in peer reviewed journals and is a national speaker in the area of Healthcare Policy, TeleICU and Telemedicine Policy. She earned the Certified Healthcare Insurance Executive (CHIE) designation from America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP).
