Heather Garbers is the Vice President of Voluntary Benefits and Technology with HUB International Insurance, Inc., supporting the Western Region. She works with her husband, Trevor Garbers in a territory that encompasses the states of California, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Oklahoma, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota. She is responsible for supporting the HUB PC and EB Teams in Voluntary Benefit sales and assists them daily with: block audits, recommending carrier/product/enrollment firm/and technology solutions, creating case specific sales strategies, presentations and assisting throughout the implementation process.
Prior to joining HUB, she was a Voluntary Benefits Executive with GBS Benefits, a Leavitt affiliate. During her time there she was integral in all phases of the VB sales cycle including Employer presentations, enrollments, service, and annual re-enrollments. She also spoke at their annual client seminar presenting new voluntary strategies and concepts to clients and prospects. Through her efforts, she managed a block of 140 voluntary group clients, and grew revenue by 58% in her first year.
She initially started her career after college with Allstate Benefits. During her career with Allstate Benefits she quickly rose through the ranks overseeing 15 states as a Training Specialist, before being promoted to a Regional Sales Manager over Colorado and Utah. As a Regional Sales Manager, she recruited 28 new Producers her first year, and 36 the second. Through these efforts she was able to take over a dormant territory and increase production 75% in the first year alone. She credits Allstate Benefits with bringing her into the business and teaching her critical skills for success in working with clients, brokers/consultants, and carriers.
Her experience in the voluntary benefit industry ranges from strategy, carrier selection, enrollment, and administration on both the carrier and brokerage sides. She is also honored to be a part of the national Advisory Board for the Voluntary Benefits Association, where she is accompanied by industry leaders in multiple capacities of the business.
She grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree and Finance minor. She enjoys hiking and spending time in the mountains of Colorado where she resides with her husband. She serves as Vice President of Membership with FRIENDS for Families First, a non-profit organization providing services to strengthen families and stop the cycle of child abuse and neglect and was awarded the first annual Rookie of the year award in 2015 for being the most active new member within the organization.
She is very passionate about the voluntary industry and strives to push the industry to the next level for the benefit of our ultimate clients, our policyholders.
Heather is Life/Health licensed, has earned the designation of a Certified Voluntary Benefits Specialist (CVBS), and is Long-Term Care certified.
