Lori Taylor works in the CFO Division at the University of California and is the Executive Director of Self-Funded Health Plans, which includes the Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) and the new self-funded employee PPO plan, UC Care. In partnership with UC Health, Lori has been tasked with setting the strategic direction as well as managing the fiduciary responsibilities for these programs. Both programs have the ability to guide UC students and employees to get the benefit from UC’s world class Academic Medical Centers while reinforcing the mutually beneficial relationship between UC the employer and UC Medical Centers. Lori joined the University in April 2013.
Lori’s previous 16 years in the benefits and health care industry were spent at Hewitt Associates, United Healthcare and Blue Shield of California. Her work has included health care administration, health management consulting, medical vendor procurement, product development and sales. Lori managed large clients on the insurance carrier side, helping groups get the most out of their medical plans by managing health care costs, compliant plan designs, wellness programs and member education materials. Lori was also a key player in establishing a new Accountable Care Organization (ACO) model for the City and County of San Francisco in 2012, which to date, has been a successful model. Her past fortune 500 Clients includes Chevron, HP and Google, Inc. as well as large public sector clients such as City of San Jose, City and County of San Francisco and San Mateo County.
Lori holds a Bachelors of Business Administration in Decision Sciences from Georgia State University.
