Pat Ciavola has over 30 years of leadership experience in the sports, recreation, hospitality and wellness fields. Her vision has always been driven by her passion for doing what she loves and excelling at delivering outstanding quality and results. She is skilled in short-term and long-term strategic planning, facilitating the personal and professional development of others, budget planning and execution of programming and events.
As the Director – Team Member Development for The Breakers, the iconic luxury resort property located in the heart of Palm Beach, FL, Pat oversees global training, education, personal and professional development, benefits including work-life and wellness programs, team member café operations and educational programming, rewards and recognition, and internal communication for 2000 team members. The emphasis of these programs addresses team members’ well-being in seven dimensions: physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, financial, social and occupational. Pat also chairs the Wellness Team and serves as a member of The Breakers Senior Management Group.
Tasked with figuring out how to introduce wellness into the culture of the organization in 2004, she has worked enthusiastically since to continue building on this foundation over the past eleven years. Her efforts have been integral to shaping this culture resulting in the company’s team members ranking it amongst best in class in many dimensions of the Great Place to Work employee opinion surveys.
Prior to starting her 22 year career with The Breakers, she held sports and recreation positions in both residential and resort settings and was responsible for creating, developing and implementing programming, budgeting and managing teams.
Pat holds a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southeastern Massachusetts University. She has served in several volunteer capacities for the Town of Palm Beach United Way, is a Customer Advisory Board Member for the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, a Faculty Member of the The Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) and a member of the Global Wellness Institute’s The Future of Well Work initiative. Pat and her husband Woody are members of Pet Partners and are certified to conduct pet therapy visits with their Great Danes, Atlas and Athena.
