Patrick Jordan is a content specialist for Disney Institute. In this role, Patrick integrates more than 30 years of executive health care and business experience into helping organizations benchmark Disney best practices as they strive to enhance the way they do business.
After a long career in healthcare, including time in executive roles, Patrick began working with Disney in 2007 as a deep water lifeguard at Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water parks at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Working in a front line role allowed Patrick to truly understand a Disney priority – guest safety. He honed his skills by training lifeguard candidates from all over the world.
Patrick’s passion for teaching his fellow cast members motivated him to accept a role in the operations learning and development department as coordinator of training and recreation for Disney’s All-Star Resort and Mickey’s Retreat. Patrick was responsible for on-boarding recreation cast members. He also worked as a liaison with labor operations and scheduling to create new training experiences for incoming cast members.
The opportunity to work with operations learning and development cast members from across the Walt Disney World Resort provided Patrick with perspective of the breadth of operations and how well-prepared cast members contribute to the success of the Disney brand.
Prior to becoming a Disney cast member, Patrick worked in a variety of patient care and executive health care positions. Transitioning from the bedside as a speech-language pathologist to executive responsibilities as senior vice president and corporate compliance officer, Patrick has had first-hand experience in understanding how operations work in an ever-changing environment where outcomes, customer service and employee recruitment and retention make the difference.
In 2010, Patrick began incorporating his clinical and business experiences to Disney Institute programs as part of the talented content team. Patrick’s insights, from the healthcare provider perspective, make him a valuable addition within this important specialty.
Patrick earned his Associate of Fine Arts degree from Young Harris College in Young Harris, Ga., and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in speech communications from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga. He earned a Master of Education degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga. He has held a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
