Sheila Thomas is the Director of Human Resources for the Denver Broncos Football Club and is responsible for human resources and benefit administration for staff, coaches, and football players. She joined the Broncos in 1992 as Payroll Administrator, and at that time, there were no HR departments in the NFL. She has been a member of the Broncos staff lead by six head coaches (Dan Reeves, Wade Phillips, Mike Shanahan, Josh McDaniels, Eric Studesville, and current head coach,John Fox). She has worked with countless players and their families over the years, including several Hall of Fame players such as John Elway, Shannon Sharpe, and Gary Zimmerman.
Today, the NFL and its member clubs have been in the forefront to implement and sustain the policies and benefits provided by Human Resources Professionals. Sheila annually joins HR Directors from twenty nine other football clubs each year in New York at the NFL headquarters to discuss challenges and to share best practices.
Sheila received a business degree from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina. She has received her payroll certification (CPP) from the American Payroll Association and has held a PHR designation from the Society for Human Resources Management for the past 13 years. Prior to her employment with the Denver Broncos, she was a Regional Customer Service Manager with Michelin Tire Corporation for 14 years. She is a native of Chicago, Illinois, is married with four grandchildren and has resided in Denver, Colorado for 36 years.
