Susan Bailey is the manager of health and wellness at DTE Energy, a Detroit, Michigan-based energy company. In her role, Susan applies 15 years of diversified experience in health and education settings, along with a depth of knowledge about health and behavior change, to enhance a comprehensive health management initiative which serves more than 20,000 employees, dependents and retirees.
Prior to working with DTE Energy, Susan was instrumental in the success of a number of award-winning health management initiatives including programs at Beaumont Hospitals and Chrysler. Susan has also worked in the public health sector as a Health Promotion Coordinator for the Gaston County Health Department, in North Carolina, where she created a county-wide fitness and nutrition program for residents. During her employment, her program, Gaston on The Move, was recognized as a model for program development across the state. Susan remains committed to community health improvement through active involvement in the local wellness coalition, speaking engagements and voluntary consulting.
Susan is a Certified Intrinsic Coach® and Certified Health Education Specialist with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Central Michigan University. Susan also holds a Master of Science degree in Health Promotion from the University Of North Carolina at Charlotte. Most recently, Susan was recognized as an expert in the field of health promotion when she was appointed to the WELCOA National Advisory Panel in April 2008, and the Editorial Board of the publication of the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion in 2010.
