CEO & Founder – Grokker, Inc.
Lorna Borenstein is an internet veteran who began her career launching eBay Canada out of her guestroom with a newborn in her arms. After 15 years in high-profile roles at eBay, Inc. (EBAY), Yahoo! (YHOO), and Move, Inc., Lorna made the radical choice to leave it all behind to spend time with her family. Deciding to not let her career define her challenged long-held beliefs and started a journey of self discovery. Little did she expect that an idea sparked while traveling would bring her out of retirement and back into tech to start her own company focused on pursuing your best self, Grokker.
As founder and CEO of Grokker, Lorna is changing how busy people get and stay healthy by delivering premium, on-demand video wellness content and a supportive online community of experts and enthusiasts, available at any time. Loved by users in 172 countries around the world, Grokker was named to the 2017 CNBC Upstart 25 list for successful startups.
Lorna is a speaker, contributing author, and C-suite peer adviser on how to create an engaged company culture that sustains and develops high-quality talent. She was highlighted by TechCrunch as a top female founder of 2016, and is a frequent contributor on leadership topics to business publications including Fortune, Huffington Post, and Entrepreneur. She also shares her “7 Tips to Cultivate an Amazing Culture” in an industry-first webinar series.
Lorna has practiced law in both Canada and the United States, and served in-house as Assistant Legal Counsel at HP Inc. She is fluent in English and French and conversational in Italian, Hebrew, and Yiddish. Lorna is an avid yogi, mother of three with her husband, David, and an active fundraising member of various charities supporting women’s reproductive health, civil rights (LGBTQ in particular), and adolescent anxiety and depression. Her favorite Grokker videos are constantly changing, but when she’s crunched for time and looking to squeeze in a practice, Laura Burkhart’s 20-minute Vinyasa Flow is her go-to.
